Sputnix is a Moscow-based private satellite manufacturer founded in 2011, widely recognized as Russia's first genuinely private commercial satellite company — operating independently of the state-owned ROSCOSMOS and GK NPO Lavochkin enterprises that have dominated Russian space manufacturing for decades. Sputnix built and launched TabletSat-Aurora in June 2014, a 10 kg microsatellite that became Russia's first privately manufactured and commercially operated satellite, demonstrating that Russian commercial space entrepreneurship was viable despite the overwhelming dominance of state enterprise
